Democracy Loses to War in Canada

While it is significant that Canada will end its combat role in Afghanistan next year [unlike the U.S. commitment until 2014], it is disheartening that both the Conservative and Liberal parties have agreed to stay in a “training” role indefinitely.

A Petition Against Four More Years of War

Please read, sign and circulate this petition against the Afghanistan War. Obama at Risk in 2012?

It depends on many factors – message, morale at the base, candidates, the economy – but results of the November 4 election strongly suggest that Barack Obama might win the popular vote but lose the Presidency in the electoral college in 2012.

    Elections a Setback for Peace

The November election was a setback for the peace movement, not only because of the defeat of Sen. Russ Feingold but for deeper reasons. Both parties collaborated in keeping Afghanistan out of the national election debate and media coverage – while during the period June-November alone, 274 American soldiers were killed and 2,911 were wounded on the battlefield.
