      Irvine 11 Face Criminal Prosecution

      In February 2010, Muslim students from UC Riverside and Irvine verbally disrupted a speech by Israeli ambassador Michael Oren. This demonstration was met with death threats and hateful, racial remarks. 11 students were arrested, cited with "disturbing an event" and the university disciplined the students and one organization, the UCI Muslim Student Union, which was suspended and placed on probation.

      Then, one year later the Orange County District Attorney launched a grand jury probe and filed conspiracy charges involving two misdemeanor counts at the students.
